This sitting room in The Hill began with a single anchor: a bright, bold rug that immediately set the tone. Once the rug was in place, we used it as our creative starting point, drawing colour and inspiration from both the rug and the client’s existing artworks.

Next came the transformation of the furniture. Rather than replacing key pieces, we worked with what the client already owned. We sourced and supplied a curated selection of fabrics to reupholster with purpose, selecting tones and textures that celebrated the energy of the rug while bringing harmony to the room.

While our in-house fabric library offers a strong foundation, we often extend beyond it for briefs like this. With a clear concept in hand, we reached out to our trusted fabric house representatives. They responded with tailored cuttings, hangers and full sample books to help us explore the possibilities and refine the palette.

To complete the space, we designed and made custom curtains for the bay window. This south-facing room needed privacy without blocking natural light, so we chose a sheer fabric that softened the space while allowing the daylight to gently filter through.

The result is a colourful, confident and deeply personal space. Thoughtfully layered, beautifully functional and perfectly reflective of the client’s style.
